Women's Tennis Win One; Lose Three Matches at Towson 4+1 Invitational

Mason Tennis Team Records Second Straight Shutout

The Mason tennis team recorded its second straight shutout and defeated opponent St. Francis, 7-0 at the Mason Tennis Courts in Fairfax, Va on Sunday afternoon. The Patriots (4-6, 0-1) won all their matches in straight sets and only one was determined by a tie-breaker in the second set.

Junior Maricel Ballester played in the top singles position and won her match 6-0, 7-6(7-4) with a tie-breaker in the second. Senior captain Jenn Dektas defeated her opponent, Eva Keresztes without losing a game 6-0, 6-0 and sophomore Julie Moscato won her match 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles position. Newcomers Alicia Van Zandt, Claudia Antezano and Jen Kramer all defeated their opponents in the No. 4-6 positions respectively.

The Patriots will host Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Mason tennis courts.
