OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Redshirt freshman Tyler Tisdell (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) dropped a 12-5 decision to third seeded Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov of American in the first round of the 165 pound weight class at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, held at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The loss drops Tisdell into the consolation bracket. After a bye in round one of the consolation bracket, he will face the loser of the Travis Paulson (Iowa State) and Michael Poeta (Illinois) match. Poeta received a bye in the first round of the tournament, while Paulson advanced to the second round with a 13-9 victory over Jonathan Anderson of Army.
With the win, Abdurakhmanov, improves his record to a perfect 22-0 on the season, and will go on to face Eric Luedke of Iowa in the second round.
The championships continue tomorrow with Session III scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
