WORCESTER, Mass. - Eight different George Mason players scored goals in leading the team to a 12-5 non-conference victory over Holy Cross on Thursday afternoon at Hart Turf Field in Worcester, Mass. The Patriots have now reeled off three straight wins to improve to 3-1 overall. The Crusaders fall to 4-2 on the season after the loss.

George Mason took a 6-1 lead into the break after scoring the game's first five goals. The Patriots jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after scores by Jess Shelton and Laura King just 6:15 into the contest. Mason then added three more goals, with each goal scored almost exactly three minutes apart each time, to take a 5-0 advantage less than 19 minutes in. A Nikki Bolduc tally at the 19:12 mark put the Crusaders on the board and cut the lead to four, but King answered with her second goal of the day to put Mason back on top, 6-1 at the half.

Patricia Sutton opened the half with a free position goal at the 30:58 mark, but was followed by a Brittany Berger tally just 25 seconds later. Cara O'Sullivan then cut the lead to four (7-3) on another free position shot at the 32:52 mark, but that score was also answered by a Patriot tally. Sutton then struck again to pull the Crusaders back within four (8-4) with just over 20 minutes remaining, but Holy Cross would not get any closer. George Mason outscored Holy Cross 4-1 in the final 17 minutes to seal the win.

The Patriots outshot the Crusaders, 36-20, and had a 28-20 groundball advantage. Freshman Roxie Alsruhe had six saves on the day, while Holy Cross goalie Megan Orr made a season-high 17 saves in the loss.

George Mason will look to extend its winning streak to four games when it faces No. 6 Boston University at Nickerson Field in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, March 18 at noon.
