Conway, S.C. -
The George Mason baseball team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon as Coastal Carolina got revenge for a loss suffered on Saturday, downing the Patriots, 22-6.
The Chanticleers (2-4) scored six in the first and 10 in the second to rout starter Mike Modica and Mason relievers weren't particularly effective either as Coastal Carolina pounded out 19 hits and capitalized on eight walks.
Modica was charged with 11 runs, seven earned, on four hits and six walks in one and one-third innings. Dan Jaycox went three and two-third innings, allowing 11 hits and eight earned runs and Brian Winings went two innings, allowing three runs. Billy Tinsley was the only Mason pitcher unscathed, as he pitched a scoreless inning.
Casey Slattery hit his third home run of the day after knocking two out a game earlier in the day. Jon Weislow had three RBI and Tyler Youngs added two as Mason scored five of its six runs in the final three innings.
Mason (3-4) will return to action on Friday when the Patriots take on Virginia at the Charleston Challenge in Charleston, S.C.
