Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's women's swimming & diving team collected three Colonial Athletic Association dual meet victories in the CAA Pod Meet, which concluded its two-day competition Saturday afternoon at the Aquatic & Fitness Center. The Patriot women claimed wins against Charleston (235-115), Davidson (251-101) and Drexel (263-89), while the men's squad was edged by Drexel (180-147) and fell to both Charleston (215-122) and Davidson (233-110).
On the women's side, Mason had eight first place finishes, six of which were individual events and were each won by a different athlete. Mallory Pucci won her second of the weekend in the 100-yard freestyle (53.44), while Allie Smith tallied a first place time of 2:09.74 in the 200 back. Liz Ouzts placed first in the 200 breast (2:25.80) and edged out Sarah Keeley of Drexel by under a second. Katie Kelly won her third event of the weekend as she swam the 500 free in a time of 5:03.45 and Morgan Hall finished first in the 100 fly (59.72). Brooke Crowther was the other Patriot to win an individual event as she swam the 200 IM in a time of 2:12.74.
For the men, Eric Knight beat the competition in the 100 free in a time of 47.75, while Ryan Metzker had a second-place performance in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 254.05.
The Patriots will return to action when Mason hosts its own Patriot Invitational Nov. 17-19.
