Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's women's swimming & diving team is leading Charleston (117-67), Davidson (132-53) and Drexel (137-48) after the first day of the Colonial Athletic Association Pod Meet at the Aquatic & Fitness Center Friday afternoon. The men's team is trailing Charleston (116-60), Davidson (119-61) and Drexel (97-70) through 10 events.
The women's squad placed first in seven events on Friday, including two individual events by sophomore Katie Kelly who won the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:01.54) and the 400 IM (4:34.10). Mallory Pucci won the 200 free in a time of 1:55.25, while Liz Ouzts placed first in the 100 breast (1:07.36). Sarah Bizer also won the 50 free (23.86).
On the men's side, Eric Knight placed first in the 50 free in a time of 21.81 and also finished third in the 100 breast (1:00.56). Ryan Metzker was the other Patriot to finish first as he won the 1-meter diving event (283.90).
The CAA Pod Meet will wrap-up compeition on Nov. 4 at the Aquatic & Fitness Center at 1 p.m.
