Fairfax, Va.--Both of UMBC's swimming & diving teams continue to lead after the second day of competition at the Patriot Invitational, which concluded Saturday at the Aquatic & Fitness Center on the campus of George Mason University. The Retrievers' men's team leads with 694.5 points, while the women's team has 511, just 16 points ahead of Duke University. Mason's women's team stands in fourth with 367 points, while the men are seventh (180).

On the men's side, Ryan Metzker placed second in the 3-meter diving event for the Patriots with a score of 295, while Justin Mallette earned 14 points for Mason with a fifth place finish in the same event (247.45). In addition, Eric Knight swam the 100 breast in a time of 1:00.36, just .10 under Robert Anderson (UNCW) to earn a sixth place finish.

For the Mason women, the 200 medley relay team of Rebecca Jimenez, Liz Ouzts, Morgan Hall and Sarah Bizer placed third (1:48.15), while Brooke Crowther finished seventh in the 400 IM (4:37.96) to add 12 points to Mason's total. In the 100 breast, Ouzts and Katie Kelly finished in fourth and sixth, respectively, with times of 1:05.86 and 1:06.76.

Another record was broken as David Zenk (GWU) swam the 400 IM in a record setting time of 3:57.73

The three-day event will wrap-up competition on Nov. 19 with preliminary action beginning at 9 a.m. and the finals will start at 5 p.m. at the Aquatic & Fitness Center.
