Fairfax, Va. (October 2, 2006) - The George Mason Women's Tennis team defeated St. Francis College on Saturday, September 30, in a rain delayed match. The Patriots dominated losing only one singles and one doubles match all day finishing with an overall team score of 6-1.

In singles play, Maricel Ballster defeated Roxy Ionescu at the No.1 position. Other wins for Mason came from Julia Moscato defeating Samantha Fulchiero at the No.3 spot, Alicia Van Zandt beat out Danielle Gauthier at the No. 4 position, Anita Sager won at the No.5 spot defeating Mallary Palmer and Ellen Mathis beat Ashley Zalewski at the No. 6 position. Mason's only loss during singles play came when Abby Ball of St. Francis defeated Alexandria LaCoste at the No. 2 spot.

During doubles play Ballster and LaCoste defeated Ball and Eva Keresztes at the No.1 spot while Moscato and Van Zandt beat Ionescu and Palmer to win the No. 2 position. Sager and Claudia Antezano were victims to Mason's only doubles loss, falling to Fulchiero and Becky Seybold at the No. 3 spot.

The George Mason Women's tennis team will be in action again on October 13th through the 15th as they compete at the Collegiate Invitational in Newport News, Va.
