FAIRFAX, Va. - Three members of the 2005 George Mason women's lacrosse team were named to the 2005 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) National Honor Roll, the organization recently announced. Senior attackers Jeannine Ohler (Malvern, Pa.) and Tracy Waterson (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and rising-junior defender Katie Linnertz (Syracuse, N.Y.) were among the 152 student-athletes selected for the IWLCA's academic award.
To be nominated for the National Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have achieved junior or senior standing academically and earned a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.2 for the 2005 spring semester.
Ohler and Waterson receive the award for the second consecutive season, joining Cara McFadden (1997-2000), Faith Klapinski (1997-2000) and Lisa Hagan (2001-04) as two-time honorees.
Ohler, a health, fitness and recreation resources major, concluded her career with 65 career goals, ranking 13th all-time at Mason, and 51 goals, which lists 14th overall. Waterson majored in administration of justice and finishes her career with 36 goals, 11 assists and 47 points.
Linnertz is a government and international politics major, who sat out the 2004 season as a red-shirt. A rising senior academically, she is entering her junior year athletically, ranked seventh on the Patriot career lists with 65 caused turnovers and has started 34 of 34 games in 2003 and 2005.
