RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason senior Marc Kellman (Coram, N.Y.) was chosen as the 2005 Colonial Athletic Association co-Athlete of the Year in men's track and field Tuesday by a vote of the league's six head coaches. He shares the award with Virginia Commonwealth's Davion Lambert.

Kellman is the second straight Mason student-athlete to earn the honor and third in the last four years. He joins last year's winner and current Patriot Richard Phillips, who was a 2004 Olympic semifinalist, and Brandon Simpson (2001-02), who received the title in 2002. Kellman is the eighth Mason athlete selected CAA Athlete of the Year since 1990.

Kellman was one of 12 finalists in the triple jump at the NCAA Track and Field Championships after posting a leap of 15.82m in the preliminaries. He also finished third in the triple jump (15.64m) at the NCAA East Regional and placed second at the IC4A Championships with a personal-best jump of 15.83m, which is the seventh-best outdoor mark in school history.

At the CAA Championship, Kellman won the triple jump, finished second in the long jump (7.32m) and was fifth in the 200 meters. Other top performances include winning the triple jump at the Raleigh Relays and placing fourth in the long jump at the IC4A Championships with a leap of 7.51m.

During the 2005 indoor track season, Kellman earned All-America honors after a fifth-place indoor personal-best performance of 16.21m in the triple jump.

Others receiving top CAA men's track and field honors were William & Mary's Christo Landry as CAA Rookie of the Year and UNC Wilmington's Jim Sprecher as CAA Coach of the Year.
