Georgetown missed an opportunity for a big inning in the seventh. Graziano reached on a two-out throwing error by Genovese and Brooks followed with a single, ending Morrison's day. J.J. Pannell came in and walked Johnson to load the bases and walked McLaughlin. But with the count 3-2 and two outs, Brooks was running from second on the pitch. He rounded third and was thrown out by Jacobsen before Graziano could touch home, ending the inning without a run crossing.
Mason added insurance runs in the eighth. Cooksey led off with a walk and went to third on a Looze single to left. Looze was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a double. Jacobsen followed with a single to left to score Cooksey and after an Innerst ground out, Matt Barrett drove home Jacobsen to make it 12-7. After a Casey Slattery pinch-hit single to left, Tyler Youngs followed with a single to bring home Barrett for a six-run lead.
