Campioli Named CAA Female Diver of the Week

Mason Earns Three League Honors in Women's Swimming

Richmond, Va...George Mason senior Mary Campioli (Falls Church, Va.) has been selected the 2005 Colonial Athletic Association Diver of the Year in a vote by the league's head coaches as announced by the conference office. In addition, Mason freshman Amanda Fielding (Closter, N.J.) was tabbed as diving Rookie of the Year, while Roland McDonald was voted diving Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.

Towson senior Jennifer Irby (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) has been named the 2005 CAA Women's Swimmer of the Year and is joined by UNC Wilmington freshman Allie Lewis, who was named swimming Rookie of the Year and Towson head coach Pat Mead, who was selected swimming Coach of the Year.

Campioli, who was named Rookie of the Year in Diving in 2002, claimed gold medals in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events at the CAA Championships in February. Campioli's score of 276.80 on the one-meter diving platform was a new league meet record and she went on to score a 433.90 on the three-meter.

Fielding led all freshmen divers as she finished in sixth place in the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Fielding scored a 212.05 on the one-meter diving platform and she finished with 398.55 points on the three-meter.

McDonald, who was instrumental in helping lead Mason to its fourth-straight conference crown, was named Women's Diving Coach of the Year for the second straight year. He guided Campioli to first place finishes in the one-meter and three-meter diving events at the CAA Championships in February. This is his second time in his six years with the Patriot program in which McDonald has received this award.

In addition to the 2005 major award winners in women's swimming and diving, the following individuals and relay teams received All-CAA accolades based on their performances at the CAA Championship.
