Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's softball team's double-header against Hofstra has been cancelled for April 2 due to inclement weather. The two teams will compete in two games on April 3 beginning at 11 a.m. at George Mason Field.
The Patriots (11-16, 2-1 CAA) opened up their Colonial Athletic Association schedule this past weekend as Mason collected a 2-1 record over Delaware in Fairfax. Mason defeated the Blue Hens by a score of 10-6 on Mar. 25 with sophomore pitcher Megan Farrell (Medford, N.J.) earning her sixth win of the season, while freshman hurler Amber Straube (Virginia Beach, Va.) posted her third win of the year with a 5-4 victory over the Blue Hens in the first game on Mar. 26. The lone win for Delaware on the weekend came in the last contest on Sunday as the Blue Hens won by a score of 6-0.
Hofstra (18-10, 0-0), which was one win away from appearing in the 2004 Women's College World Series, opens up its league schedule this weekend against the Patriots. The Pride is coming off of a two-game series sweep over Rutgers which the Pride won by scores of 12-0 and 11-2, respectively, on Mar. 30. Hofstra has won seven straight games and 17 of its last 21 since starting the year with a 1-6 mark. Hofstra has scored 58 runs in its last seven games since being shut out by Seton Hall on March 20.
