Final Stats

Philadelphia, Pa.--The La Salle University softball team hosted George Mason (16-20) for a doubleheader this afternoon at Good Shepherd Field and the Patriots claimed a 6-4 victory in extra innings in the opening game and won 13-3 in the second contest.

In the opener, freshman Carissa Segura did not allow a single earned run for La Salle, extending her streak to 13 consecutive innings. The team scored three in the bottom of the third, keyed by a two-out double from Laura DeZolt, and went on to add another run in the sixth.

The Patriots answered with four runs in the top of the seventh to knot the score at 4-4. Mason then went on to secure its victory as the Patriots scored twice more in the top of the eighth.

The Patriots jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the second game and ended up cruising to a 13-3 victory in just six innings. Freshman pitcher Amber Straube collected the win as she was on the mound for the first four innings of play.

Mason will return to action when the Patriots face James Madison in a doubleheader at George Mason Field on April 16 at 12 p.m.
