Box Score

FAIRFAX, Va. - Boston University's Lindsay Lewis (Glenelg, Md.) scored the game-winner off an assist from Jenny Hauser (Alexandria, Va.) with 47 seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift the ninth-ranked Terriers to an 11-10 OT victory over George Mason in women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at George Mason Stadium. The Patriots, who went into overtime last week against then No. 9 Maryland, clawed back from a 9-4 second-half deficit to force the extra session.

Mason, which has dropped three straight contests to ranked opponents by a combined four goals, falls to 1-5 on the season, while Boston improves to 5-1 on the year.

Three George Mason players netted hat tricks on the afternoon in junior attacker Sarah Bryant (Fairfax Station, Va.), senior attack Kristy Manas (Harwood, Md.) and freshman attacker Christina Frank (Forest Hill, Md.). Lewis led Boston with five goals. Mary Beth Miller (Berlin, N.J.) totaled two goals and three assists and Alyssa Trudel (Shoreham, Vt.) had two goals and two assists.

Mason took a 3-1 lead 19 minutes into the game behind a goal from Frank and two from Bryant, but Boston responded with four consecutive scores as Trudel had two goals and Miller posted one and two assists to take a 5-3 margin into halftime.

The two teams traded opening salvos in the second period for a 6-4 Terriers lead at 28:47. But, Lewis scored two more during a three-goal run that gave Boson a 9-4 advantage with 19:44 remaining. The Patriots, however, battled back behind Manas, who scored the first of her three goals off a free position at 14:22 to ignite Mason's comeback. Following Bryant's unassisted marker at 11:49, Manas registered back-to-back netters at 3:30 and 2:09 to trim the Terriers' margin to one, 9-8. Frank capped the comeback on a goal with nine seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

In the OT, Lewis gave Boston the edge at 10-9 at 1:57 in the first OT session. Frank evened things up at 1:05 and the teams switched sides with the score tied 10-10. But, with 47 seconds left in the second OT frame, Hauser found Lewis for the game-winner. Mason had one last shot in the waning seconds but couldn't connect for the score.

George Mason senior goalkeeper Meg Dentler (Crofton, Md.) stopped 12 shots and allowed 11 goals. Boston goalkeeper Anne Sheridan made nine saves in allowing 10 goals. Shots were even on both sides at 29-all. Boston held a 14-11 advantage in draw controls.

George Mason visits No. 17 Loyola Wednesday at 4 p.m.
