Women's Track & Field Begins Outdoor Season at Hurricane Invitational

Coral Gables, Fla. - George Mason's women's track and field team transitioned into its competitive outdoor season Thursday, participating in the Hurricane Invitational track and field meet held Mar. 17-19, at Cobb Stadium on the campus of the University of Miami.

Thursday's lineup featured four events involving the women's heptathlon. Senior Kathy Williams (Lanham, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) and freshman Sable Bell (Ft. Washington, Md./Oxon Hill) competed for George Mason in the event. Williams is currently in sixth place after day one with 2,418 points. Bell is seventh with 1,782.

The duo competed in the 200m dash, 100m hurdles, high jump and shot put. Williams' best showing was third in the 200m dash in a time of 26.43. Bell tied for sixth in the high jump, topping 1.37m.

Track and field action continues Friday and Saturday at the Hurricane Invitational. The heptathlon concludes Friday.
