RICHMOND, Va. - Freshman attacker Christina Frank (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) was named Colonial Athletic Association co-Rookie of the Week Tuesday for all games played Mar. 7-13, the league announced. It is the first-ever honor for Frank from the league office and the first award for any Patriot player this season.
Frank led George Mason with four unassisted goals in the Patriots' 8-6 win over George Washington on Mar. 10. Frank, who came off the bench, posted a 50 percent shooting percentage and also had a ground ball. With Mason trailing 5-4, she scored three consecutive goals, including the game-tying, go-ahead and game-winning blasts that put Mason in front 7-5. She netted her first collegiate goal at the 16:52 mark of the first half, which gave Mason a 2-0 lead.
Frank is currently tied for second on the Patriots squad in goals scored with four. She is also tied for second in points (4). She has appeared off the bench in all three games this season for Mason and leads in shooting percentage at 44.4 percent.
George Mason hosts No. 9 Maryland Wednesday at 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium, beginning a three-game home stand against top 20 teams.
