George Mason senior hurdler Richard Phillips will earn All-American honors for the second straight year in the 60-meter hurdles as he was among the eight individuals to qualify for Saturday's final in the event at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships at Fayetteville, Ark.
The Olympic semifinalist was the eighth and final person to qualify for Saturday's final. He ran a time of 7.80 seconds, finishing just ahead of Central Michigan's Clarence Glenn, who ran a time of 7.81 seconds. The final will be held on Saturday at 7:25 p.m. Phillips finished fourth in the finals last year.
Phillips' teammate, Ricardo Melbourne, was unable to advance beyond the preliminaries as he finished 12th with a time of 7.90 seconds. Also competing on Saturday will be Marc Kellman and Ryan McCoy. The pair will represent Mason in the triple jump, which begins competition at 5:45 p.m.
