Baseball Grabs First Win of Season

Fournier Named CAA Baseball Player of the Week

Chris Fournier hit .545 in three games last week and he had the game-winning hit in both of George Mason's wins as the sophomore third baseman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.

Fournier, a transfer from Notre Dame, was 4 for 4 on Saturday against Penn State, including the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the ninth in a 5-4 win. He also had the game-winning RBI on Friday in a 9-5 win against UNC Greensboro. Fournier had four RBI and scored three runs on the weekend while going 6 for 11 at the plate. He also had seven walks for a .667 on-base percentage. Fournier slugged .727 on the week.

For the season, Fournier leads the Patriots in batting average (.478), hits (11), HR (2), RBI (10), doubles (3), walks (7), total bases (20), on-base percentage (.613) and slugging (.870). He has the game-winning RBI in all three of Mason's wins.
