The women's tennis team battled Georgetown University in a match that lasted more than four hours, but the Hoyas prevailed 5-2 at the Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. Three of the singles matches went the distance and the Hoyas won the decisive doubles point for the victory.

Two of the three-set matches were won by Georgetown players, with Mason's Jenn Dektas taking the lone Mason match against Adriann Gin, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(7-5), at the No. 3 singles position in a contest that lasted three hours. Sophomore Maricel Ballester lost to Liz Winokur at No. 2 singles after winning the first set 7-5, then dropping the next two, 6-2, 6-1. At the No. 4 position Jamie Delorie also won the first set (6-3), but dropped the final two sets (6-3, 6-0).

The Patriots top singles player Andreea Fusea defeated Stephanie Cohen in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. The No. 5 and No. 6 singles were won by the Hoyas in straight sets against Katie Sloper and Julia Moscato.

In doubles action, the Hoyas top team of Winokur/Cohen defeated Mason's top duo of Fusea/Ballester, 8-3. Jenn Dektas and teammate Jamie Delorie defeated the Hoya duo of Dew/Malouf 8-6. The Hoyas won the decisive doubles point in a close match, 8-6, as Gin/Gardner beat out Katie Sloper and freshman Julia Moscato.
