Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's swimming and diving teams will compete in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships Feb. 23-26 at the Aquatic & Fitness Center on the campus of George Mason.
The women are looking for their fourth-straight title in 2005 and head into the championships with an overall record of 8-2 and a flawless conference mark of 7-0. During the 2004-05 campaign, a few Mason women earned CAA accolades as senior Mary Campioli was named diver of the week on two occasions (Jan. 18 and Feb. 8) and freshman Sarah Bizer earned swimmer of the week on Feb. 8.
On the men's side, Mason garnered an 8-2 overall record during 2005 and also posted a perfect league mark of 7-0. Sophomore Tom Koucheravy was named swimmer of the week on Feb. 8, while junior John Appleman earned CAA Male Diver of the Week honors on Jan. 25. Last season, the Patriots had their best finish in school history at the conference championships as the Patriots placed second.
Competition begins on Wednesday (Feb. 23) and will continue through Feb. 26 with trial competition beginning at 10 a.m. everyday and the finals start at 6 p.m. each day.
