DAVIDSON, N.C. -- In a two-day, CAA dual swim meet hosted by Davidson
College, both of George Mason's swimming & diving teams are in the lead against Davidson, College of Charleston and Drexel.
Of the 20 events of competition on the day, the Patriot men won eight while Davidson triumphed in six. Both College of Charleston and Drexel each won three events. Senior Tim Norton won two events, the 100 back (54.39) and the 400 IM (4:09.67), while junior Tom Koucheravy also claimed two events on the day, the 1,650 free (15:49.23) and the 200 butterfly (1:59.24). In addition, senior Eric Wellington won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.40.
On the women's side, Mason won three of the events. Freshman Allie Smith finished first in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:55.34, while junior Rebecca Jimenez came in first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.31). Sophomore Sarah Bizer won the 50 free in a time of 24.51, while senior Liz Gabriel garnered a second place finish in the 1-meter diving event (230.18).
The meet will conclude Saturday afternoon at Davidson College.
