The George Mason women's cross country team came across some tough competition in the Penn State National Meet today finishing 34th. Duke captured the team title as the first three runners to cross the finish line of the 6K race ran on the Blue-White Golf Courses were Blue Devils.

Duke's senior Shannon Rowbury crossed the finish line first with a time of 20:34, followed by teammates Clara Horowitz (20:35) and Sally Meyerhoff (20:42).

Mason's top finisher was Melissa Ferry with a time of 24:32. The Patriots Danielle Turner and Alicia York finished two seconds apart with times of 26:08 and 26:10 respectively.

The women runners will prepare for their final meet of the season, the CAA Championships on October 29.
