Patriots End CAA Regular Season With Perfect Record

Harrisonburg, Va.--George Mason University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams closed out their Colonial Athletic Association regular season with a flawless conference dual meet record of 7-0 as the Patriots defeated James Madison Saturday afternoon in Harrisonburg. The women (7-2, 7-0 CAA) defeated the Dukes by a score of 140-103, while Mason's men team (7-1, 7-0) claimed a 144-99 victory over JMU.

Christy Anderson won three events on Saturday for the Patriots in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:07.31), the 200 IM (2:10.99) and the 1,000 free (10:38.23). Mary Campioli, who earned conference female diver of the week honors on Jan. 18, swept the diving events as she placed first in both the 3-meter and the 1-meter with scores of 265.80 and 253.73, respectively.

On the men's side, Joe Houchin placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.77 and also won the 100 fly (52.02) for two of Mason's nine first place finishes against the Dukes. Mason's performance on the boards remained strong for the men as well as John Appleman won the 1-meter diving event with 263.25 points and also finished first in the 3-meter (246.00).

The Patriots will return to action in their final dual meet of the season as they host George Washington on Feb. 5 at 1 p.m.
