Six Athletes Prep for NCAA Regional at Georgia Tech Meet

Atlanta, Ga. - The George Mason women's track and field team sent six athletes to Georgia Tech last weekend to prepare for the NCAA East Regional and there was some mixed results at the meet.

The 4X400-meter relay team ran a blisteringly fast time with Alyce Williams, Alycia Williams, Paula Bailey and Sheena Davidson carrying the load. The foursome finished third in a time of 3:36.54. Davidson had a solid meet as she was also eighth in the 400-meters with a time of 53.71. Unfortunately, Davidson was the only individual to finish in the top 10.

Alyce Williams was 17th in the triple jump with a distance of 12.25 meters, nearly a meter shorter than her best distance this season. Nichole Brown competed in the high jump but she did not record a height in event. Alycia Williams ran in the 400-meters with Davidson, but she was 26th with a time of 56.02. Bailey also competed in the 400-meters with a time of 56.66. She was 35th. The final athlete competing was Alicia Lowery, who was 43rd in the 100 meters with a time of 12.29, and 47th in the 200 meters, with a time of 25.38.

The NCAA East Regional will take place in Gainesville, Fla. at the University of Florida beginning Friday, May 28.
