The Colonial Athletic Association announced its Athletes of the Week for the month of March and four George Mason track and field athletes were honored for their performances.
Sheena Davidson and Ryan McCoy were Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 30 and Nichole Brown and Quentin Matthews were Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 23.
Davidson qualified for the NCAA Regional Championship in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.81 at the Raleigh Relays last weekend. The performance placed her fourth and was the best by a CAA athlete in the event this season. Davidson also qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 400 meters during a meet on March 20.
McCoy qualified for the NCAA Regional Championship in the triple jump with a leap of 50'7 ?" (15.43 m) at the Raleigh Relays last weekend. The effort placed him fourth at the Raleigh Relays and is the best by a CAA performer in an outdoor meet this season.
Brown placed third in high jump at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. with an NCAA Regional-qualifying jump of 5'10" (1.78m). The effort matches the best performance by a CAA athlete this season.
Matthews qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the high jump with a leap of 6'10 ?" (2.10m) at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. on March 20. Matthews' jump, which was the best by a CAA performer in an outdoor meet this season, earned him a second-place finish.
