The George Mason track and field teams will host their only outdoor meet of the season on Saturday when they host the Patriot Open Invitational. Fifteen women's teams will come to compete while 13 men's teams will be on hand.
The Patriot Open Invitational begins at 10:30 a.m. with the men's javelin throw, men's pole vault and women's hammer throw. Field events follow throughout the day with the men's triple jump concluding the day with a 3:30 p.m. start. Marc Kellman and Ryan McCoy will compete for the Patriots in the event and they enter the meet as favorites to win.
The track events begin at Noon with the women's 4X100-meter relay. The George Mason squad should be expected to finish well in the event. The final track event of the day is the men's 4X400-meter relay at 4:45 p.m.
The Patriots will be looking to qualify some more athletes for the NCAA East Regional, which is the final weekend in May in Gainesville, Fla. After the Patriot Open Invitational, George Mason will compete just once before the Regional. The women will compete just once, at the Georgia Tech Relays, while the men will compete at the IC4A Championships at New Haven, Conn.
