Fairfax, VA (April 16, 2004)-George Mason split the singles matches with Towson, but lost the doubles point, losing the match 4-3 at the GMU Tennis Courts today. This was the second straight match that the Patriots split the singles with their opponent, but lost the doubles.
George Mason's No. 1, No. 2 and 4 singles were victorious. Senior Tito Ballester defeated Chris Rowland at the number one singles position. The number two match was won in straight sets by Tim Bainton from George Mason, 6-1, 6-3. The number four singles was a battle, with the Patriots Oleg Sirghii defeating Todd Nagel in the tie-breaker, 1-6, 6-4 (10-3).
In doubles play, Mason's No. 1 team of Ballester and Tim Bainton Towson's Navin Kahn and Mike Edison, 8-6. The other two doubles matches were won by Towson teams, both by an 8-3 margin.
