The George Mason baseball team had little problem completing a three-game sweep of Canisius on Sunday, defeating the Griffins, 14-0 at Spuhler Field and improving to 9-1 on the season. The Patriots swept Canisius by a combined score of 43-6.

There were plenty of stars on Sunday as Josh Morrison went five innings allowing just three hits to earn his second win of the season. Jimmy Freund went 4 for 5 with four RBI. Rob Jacobsen was 4 for 5 with two runs and an RBI. Josh Campbell was 3 for 5, Matt Cooksey was 2 for 6 and Chris Looze was 3 for 4 with three RBI.

The Patriots took their time on Sunday, waiting until the second inning to strike. Jacobsen led off with a single and stole second. Matt Barrett walked and Freund brought home the first run with a single. Campbell singled to bring home Barrett making it 2-0. The Patriots added ode more run in the third when Jeff Palumbo reached on an error, Looze singled sending him to third and Shimer's grounder brought him home.

It became 4-0 in the fourth when Jacobsen singled, stole two bases and scored on a Freund single.

Any chance of a Canisius comeback was halted in the fifth when the Patriots scored seven times. Looze and Shimer led off with back-to-back homers, Innerst and Jacobsen had back-to-back singles and Freund doubled to bring home Innerst. Looze wasn't done producing in the inning as he had a two-run double that made it 11-0.

Mike Kemp, Tyler Wingerd, Brent Hitz and Dan Jaycox each pitched an inning of relief for the Patriots with only Jaycox allowing a hit, that coming in the ninth. Patriot pitchers combined for eight strikeouts in the game as Canisius (0-6) managed just four hits.

The Patriots hit .439 in the series and hit eight home runs. They out hit Canisius, 47-14. George Mason pitchers limited Canisius to a .169 batting average and one extra-base hit.

George Mason (9-1) heads on a five-game road trip next week while the school is on spring break. The trip begins at Raleigh, N.C. where the Patriots face North Carolina State. The Wolfpack are ranked No. 22 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 24 by Baseball America. The Wolfpack just concluded a three-game series at San Diego State. After starting the season 10-0, they lost the final two games of that series and are currently on a two-game losing streak.
