BOSTON - George Mason junior goalkeeper Meg Dentler (Crofton, MD) made a game- and career-high 24 saves to lead the Patriots to a 10-8 women's lacrosse victory over 15th-ranked Boston University at Nickerson Field Saturday afternoon. Mason earns its second straight victory to improve to 2-2 overall, while B.U. drops to 2-4 following its fourth straight loss.

Junior attacker Jeannine Ohler (Malvern, PA) paced the Patriots with four goals and an assist. Junior attacker Kristy Manas (Harwood, MD) finished with two scores and an assist, while senior defender Stacy Berger (Baltimore, MD) added two markers. Sophomore midfielder Lindsay Lewis led the Terrier attack, scoring a game- and career-high six goals.

The Patriots jumped on the board early as Ohler, Manas, and Berger each tallied goals to give Mason a 3-0 lead at 23:12. Boston answered with a pair of markers from Lewis and a score from attacker Kylie Wagenet, knotting the game, 3-3, at 14:54. Mason scored three unanswered goals to close out the first half and took a 6-3 lead at the break.

Lewis netted the first three scores of the second period to even the match at 6-6 with 20:18 remaining. Ohler scored a pair of goals and Berger found the back of the net during a fast break as the Patriots used a 3-0 run to take a 9-6 lead at the 10:37 mark.

Lewis grabbed a loose ball in front of the Mason crease and netted her sixth and final goal of the game at 9:47. Junior attacker Tracy Waterson (Niskayuna, NY) gave the Patriots a 10-7 lead, scoring with just 4:17 left in the game. Trudel tallied a goal with one minute remaining in the game, but B.U. would get no closer as the Patriots defensive unit of sophomore Michelle Brady (Fairfax, VA), junior Brandi Evans (Fort Howard, MD), freshman Melissa Curry (Edgewater, MD), and Berger held the Terriers in the final minutes.

B.U. out shot Mason, 43-24, but could not get the ball past Dentler. She made 15 of her 24 saves in the second half to secure the victory. Junior goalkeeper Anne Sheridan stopped nine shots for the Terriers. Mason shot 41.7 percent for the game compared to 18.6 percent for Boston.

Mason hosts nationally-ranked Loyola Wednesday at 7 p.m.
