Patriot Women's Tennis Overcomes the Mount, 6-1

FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason's women's tennis team earned its second victory of the season Thursday with a complete performance over visiting Mount St. Mary's at the GMU Tennis Courts. The Patriots downed the Mount 6-1 to improve to 2-10 on the year.

Mason notched straight set victories in the No. 1 through No. 5 singles positions and swept doubles to earn the point. Freshman Maricel Ballester (Lima, Peru) topped her opponent 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 to record her third straight victory, while sophomore Jenn Dektas (Maineville, OH/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) won her match 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2.

Playing #3 singles, junior Jaime Delorie (McMurry, PA/St. Francis) posted a 6-1, 3-3 ret. win and junior Katie Sloper (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton) downed her opponent, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4. Junior Natalie Oudar (Manassas, VA/Osbourn) rounded out the singles wins with a 6-0, 6-3 pasting at No. 5.

The tandem of Dektas and Delorie registered an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles. Ballester and Sloper earned the #2 duo win 8-4, while Oudar and senior Deepti Bhalla (Lorton, VA/Hayfield) blanked their opponents, 8-0, at No. 3.

The Patriot women's tennis teams travels to Radford, Tuesday at 3 p.m.
