Mason Drops a Conference Match to Hofstra

Fairfax, VA - The George Mason men's tennis team is still searching for that first dual match victory of the season. Hofstra posted straight sets victories in all six singles matches en route to a 7-0 victory over George Mason on Sunday afternoon at Wakefield Park. The Patriots fall to 0-9 on the season and 0-2 in CAA action.

All six matches were won by Hofstra in straight sets with the No. 2 singles match between Michael Bosch and Tim Bainton the most competitive, but Bosch escaped with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Farshad Garakani and Oleg Sirghii lost their matches by identical records, 6-2, 6-2, to Matt Schor and Rodrigo Teixeira respectively.

The No. 1 doubles team of Ballester and Bainton were split up for this match, Ballester teaming up with Eric Vogel and Bainton playing with Brendan O'Connor. Both teams lost their match, Ballester/Vogel, 8-4, and Bainton/O'Connor, 8-5. The No. 2 doubles match went to the wire with the Pride's team of Bosch/Coggan taking the win 8-7 (8-6) over Garakani/Sirghii.

Mason returns to action on Tuesday, March 23 when they travel into Washington, DC to play Howard at 2:30 p.m.
