George Mason lefthander Jake Glanzmann had a strong start over the weekend against Radford and on Tuesday, his performance was recognized by the Colonial Athletic Association as the junior from Springfield, Va. (West Springfield High School) was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week.
Glanzmann pitched six and two-thirds innings against Radford, allowing just five hits and three walks while striking out two. He allowed just one run but it was unearned as he lowered his season earned-run average to 2.45. He is 1-0 on the season.
Glanzmann was tabbed as one of the conference's top pitchers this preseason when Baseball America named him All-CAA and the conference's fifth-best prospect.
For the season, the Patriots have a staff ERA of 3.40 and have recorded 39 strikeouts in 53 innings. The starters have an ERA of 2.84 and Glanzmann is second on the team in that category. Teams are hitting just .179 against him this weekend.
