Fairfax, VA--The 24th-ranked Oklahoma women's tennis team claimed its sixth straight victory Thursday defeating the Patriots, 7-0, at the Wakefield Park tennis courts. The Sooners move to 10-1 on the season while the Patriots fall to 0-9.
In Doubles action, Oklahoma's No. 1 pair of Jessica Braver and Heather Saluri blanked Mason's top team of Jenn Dektas and Jamie Delorie, 8-0. At No.2, OU's duo of Gabby Baker and Amanda Pratzel defeated Maricel Ballester and Katie Sloper, 8-2. Oklahoma's team of Joi-lee Beachler and Bethany Griffin shut-out Natalie Oudar and Melissa Wooten, 8-0, at No. 3.
The Sooners won all six singles in straight sets. Mason's No. 1, 3 and 6 singles were blanked by Oklahoma. The Patriots No. 2 singles Maricel Ballester lost 6-2, 6-2, to the Sooners Jessica Braver. Katie Sloper lost to Kate Boomershine, 6-1 6-2 and No. 5 singles Natalie Oudar lost to Amanda Pratzel, 6-1, 6-0.
The Patriots next face CAA foe Hofstra Sunday at 10:00 at the GMU Tennis Courts.
