LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Senior Rob Becker (Mickleton, NJ/Clearview Regional) of George Mason University has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Feb. 15, the league announced Tuesday. It is the second CAA honor for Becker this season, who also won the award on Dec. 11.
Wrestling at 141, Becker returned from a bout with the flu to win a CAA pinfall (3:54) victory over James Madison in his only match of the week.
Currently ranked ninth in the nation by Amateur News Wrestling and 10th by InterMat, Becker remains undefeated in the CAA at 4-0 and in duals at 5-0, while improving to 22-5 overall as the top ranked 141 in the league.
For his career, Becker owns a 106-33 career record at Mason, which ranks fifth all-time on the school's career wins list. He is a two-time NCAA qualifier with a 2-4 mark in the NCAA Championships, and won the 2003 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Tournament. He finished second this season at the Beast of the East College Invitational and at the Virginia Intercollegiate State Championships.
George Mason hosts Maryland Saturday at 2 p.m. in the John Linn Gymnasium.
