Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's men's and women's swimming & diving teams both swept their competition (College of Charleston, Davidson and Drexel) at the Colonial Athletic Association Pod Meet, which was a two-day event that concluded earlier this afternoon at the Aquatic & Fitness Center. Since it is counted as three separate dual meets, the women's overall record now stands at 5-2 overall (5-0 CAA), while the men's team holds an overall mark of 5-1 and is still undefeated in the league with a 5-0 record.

On the women's side, the Patriots placed first in eight events, which included the 100 yard butterfly where Mallory Pucci claimed the title with a time of 59.74. Pucci was then followed by two of her teammates as Brooke Crowther (1:00.50) and Brittany Surkovich (1:00.64) placed second and third, respectively. Lacy Richardson finished first in the 100 free (54.26), while Stefani Lubore swam the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:08.11 for first. Liz Ouzts won the 200 breast in 2:26.91 and Christy Anderson went on to place first in the 200 IM (2:10.17).

The women had a strong showing in the 3-meter diving event as Mary Campioli captured the title with 240.70 points, while Amanda Fielding (214.75) and Colleen Flack (212.95) claimed the third and fourth spot, respectively.

Mason's men's team garnered seven first place finishes in the meet, which was highlighted by Tim Norton as he finished first in the 200 backstroke (1:53.98), as well as the 200 IM (1:56.65). David Cooper swam the 200 breaststroke in 2:10.30 for first place honors, while Tom Koucheravy also placed first in the 500 free. Joe Houchin went on to finish first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.03, .89 seconds faster than Davidson's Brad Poole who finished second.

The men also had a good afternoon on the boards as the Patriots finished in the second-fifth spots: 2. John Appleman (256.60), 3. Justin Bates (202.90), 4. Ian Djuric (162.40), 5. Stephen Lepsch (154.40).
