The George Mason University men's and women's track and field teams will host the Patriot Games on Saturday with six schools sending athletes to compete in the indoor event. East Carolina, Maryland, Morgan State, Norfolk State, St. Augustine's and William & Mary are the teams traveling to The Fieldhouse to compete.
The Patriots have competed twice this year, they hosted the Father Diamond Invitational on Jan. 10 and they traveled to the Virginia Tech Invitational last week, and they already have women qualified for the ECAC Championships in eight different events while the men have qualified for the IC4A Championships in three events.
Alycia Williams has paved the way for the women this year, as she has qualified for the ECAC in the 200-meters, 400-meters and 500-meters. She has had top-five finishes in the 400 and 500 this year. She's also part of the 4X400-meter relay team that has qualified for the ECAC. Also on that team is her twin sister, Alyce. Alyce Williams has not only qualified for the ECAC in the triple jump, she also has reached the provisional NCAA qualifying distance. Alyce Williams has won the triple jump in both meets the Patriots have competed in this year.
Sheena Davidson has qualified in the 800-meters as well as the 4X400-meter relay while Nichole Brown qualified in the high jump and Kim Morgan in the long jump.
Richard Phillips has led the Patriot men. Like Alyce Williams, he has provisionally qualified for the NCAA meet. His event is the 60-meter hurdles. Joining him in qualifying for the IC4A meet are Henry Harris in the 200-meters and Marc Kellman in the triple jump.
Harris has finished in the top three in both 200-meter races he's run this year while Kellman has had a top-five finish in the triple jump and long jump. Wayne Wright, meanwhile, is coming off an excellent meet at the Virginia Tech Invitational where he was top-five in both the triple jump and high jump. Jonathan Wright had a top-five in the high jump as well while Ryan McCoy was second in the triple jump.
The Patriot Games will begin at 11 a.m. with field events. Running events will begin at 12:15 p.m. The final event of the day, the men's 4X400-meter relay, is scheduled to begin at 3:20 p.m.
