Fairfax, VA-George Mason University's women's swimming and diving team (5-2) posted a 121-70 victory over Howard, while the men's team (5-1) notched a 107-76 defeat over the Bisons at the Aquatic and Fitness Center on Friday evening.

Mason's women placed first in eight out of the 12 events, including two victories from junior Emily Welty. Welty placed first in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 27.51, as well as the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.31). Junior Christy Anderson also had another strong showing as she placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (56.80) and also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.31.

The Patriot men garnered first place finishes in seven out of 12 events, which included a first place showing by sophomore Tim Norton in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.92 seconds. Freshman Joe Houchin also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.08), while senior Nate Kellogg earned a first place time of 24.43 in the 50-yard butterfly.

George Mason will return to action on Jan. 17 when they compete against the Tigers of Towson in Towson, MD, at 1 p.m.
