NEW MARKET, VA ... The George Mason women's cross country teams placed fourth among the six teams competing Saturday at the James Madison Invitational at the New Market Battlefield Park. The Patriots scored 105 points to finish behind JMU (18), George Washington (42) and Howard (96).
Junior Sara Hines led the Patriot women for the second week in a row as she finished 12th overall with a time of 21 minutes, 25.4 seconds over the 5,000-meter course. She was followed by senior Dana Early, who was 18th in 21:38.6; senior Sheena Goss, 26th in 22:43.6; junior Ryann Holmes, 28th in 22:52.6; and senior Rose Moeser, 33rd in 23:06.7. For scoring purposes (the placing of the top five finishers determines the team score), Early was 16th, Goss was 23rd, Holmes 25th and Moeser 29th.
The George Mason women will join the men's team to compete at the George Washington Invitational Saturday at Bull Run Regional Park, located west of Centreville, VA. This will serve as a tune-up for the Mason Invitational, which will be hosted by the Patriots and run on the same course on Oct. 4.
