O'Garrow Named to US Lacrosse U.S. Women's Elite Team

FAIRFAX, Va. - Former George Mason University standout Kinsley O'Garrow was named to the United States Women's Elite team for the 2003-04 season, US Lacrosse announced Monday. This is O'Garrow's first selection to the Elite squad, having been a member of the 1998-99 and 2002-03 U.S. Developmental teams.

O'Garrow produced several stellar seasons while a member of the Patriots from 1997 to 2000. She was a third-team selection to the 2000 Brine/Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I All-America team, and was a 1999 and 2000 honoree to the Brine/IWLCA South All-Region team. A first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection and the CAA Defender of the Year in 2000, she was an honorable mention pick to the 2000 US Lacrosse All-America team.

For her career, O'Garrow had 65 goals and 27 assists for 92 in 61 games, including 58 starts. She is George Mason's career leader with 214 ground balls and is second all-time with 115 caused turnovers. O'Garrow is tied for fifth and ninth in career goals and assists, respectively, while holding steady at eighth all-time in career points.

Forty-eight of the nation's top female lacrosse players were honored with Elite and Developmental squad selections. Twenty-four were named to the Elite team, while 24 were named to the Developmental team.

Elite team head coach Sue Stahl and Developmental team head coach Sue Murphy headed the selection committee that chose team members from a pool of applicants that competed in recent tryouts.

The teams will practice together, play exhibition scrimmages against college teams and serve as clinicians for the US Lacrosse Women's Division National Clinic Month activities scheduled for February 2004. US Lacrosse conducts clinics for youth players at locations throughout the country to help aid in the growth of the sport.
