FAIRFAX, Va. - Three current and three former George Mason women's lacrosse players participated in the 70th annual US Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament, held May 24-25, on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. This "annual rite of spring", hosted by the Philadelphia Chapter of US Lacrosse, featured nearly 60 teams competing in two divisions in a two-day celebration of women's lacrosse.

"The National Tournament is all about women's lacrosse," said Erin Brown, women's division director at US Lacrosse. "For the players, it's a unique opportunity for them to compete alongside the best players in their region. With the women's lacrosse community present, it [was] the perfect setting to honor those that have done so much for the game."

Thirty-six regionally selected girls teams competed in the high school division, and 23 regional teams competed in the club division for college-age players and older. The event culminated Sunday with an awards ceremony honoring those that have excelled in and contributed to women's lacrosse throughout the year.

Among the current Patriots, 2003 first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association and IWLCA/USL South All-Region All-American sophomore goalkeeper Meg Dentler (Crofton, MD/Arundel) was placed on the Division A Mid-Atlantic 1 club team, while freshman attacker Kate Scott (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) and freshman defender Katie Linnertz (Syracuse, NY/Cicero North Syracuse) were members of Mid-Atlantic 3 of Division C.

The Mid-Atlantic 1 group lost the head-to-head battle to the team from Upper Atlantic 1. Both teams' finished with 4-1 records, and Upper Atlantic 1 was awarded the Division A championship. Mid-Atlantic 3 placed second in Division C with a 3-1 mark, only losing to undefeated New York 2 which was 4-0.

Former Patriots included defenders Frankie Bell (2001-03), 2002 first-team All-CAA and IWLCA/USL regional All-American Kerry Miller (1999-2002), and 2000 CAA Defender of the Year and national All-American Kinsley O'Garrow (1997-2000). Miller and Bell participated on the Mid-Atlantic 2 team that was 3-1 in Division B. O'Garrow was a member of the unbeaten Mountain 1 squad, which went 4-0 in Division D.
