FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason's men's golf team ranks 173rd overall in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings released June 1. The Patriots are 168th in the latest Golfstat listings. Rankings are based on head-to-head competitions throughout the season. Golfweek/Sagarin and Golfstat rate Mason 11th in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Individually, junior Craig Mason (Lorton, VA/Hayfield) is the Patriots top golfer listed in the top 500, dropping in at 461 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Mason was recently named PING Mid-Atlantic All-Region.

Golfweek Magazine has taken to publishing the Sagarin ratings of every school in the country. His ratings are basically a head-to-head rating against all the schools that a team faces. Golfstat has its own Head-to-Head rating which are similar to the Sagarin.

Team rankings used to determine entrants into the NCAA Regional Tournaments are determined by a Regional Advisory Committee, and are also based on head-to-head competitions. The top four teams in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Committee rankings, of which George Mason is a member, get the Mid-Atlantic Region's NCAA bids.
