FAIRFAX, VA ... The George Mason baseball team is ranked for the sixth consecutive week overall and is in the Top 10 for the second straight week in the Northeast Coaches Poll conducted by CollegeBaseballInsider.com.
George Mason is ranked 10th in the latest weekly poll, announced April 22, in which coaches from the Colonial Athletic Association, the Atlantic 10 Conference, the Big East Conference, the America East Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the Northeast Conference are allowed to vote. It is the second straight week Mason is ranked at No. 10, and the Patriots entered the Top 15 poll for the first time on March 18 at No. 13.
The Patriots have won 20 of their last 26 games, including a 4-3 victory at Virginia Tuesday, and take a 24-12 overall record into Wednesday's contest at home against Georgetown at 3 p.m. Mason carries an 8-3 mark in the CAA into this weekend's three-game conference series at James Madison, as the Patriots and Dukes (7-4 CAA) meet Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. in Harrisonburg.
