Philadelphia, Pa. - Drexel senior Katrina Rand netted three goals, but George Mason outlasted the Dragons 14-8 on Friday, April 18. Drexel falls to 7-7, 0-6 in the CAA, while the Patriots improve to 6-7.

Play was intense in the first half, with both teams battling for every ball. The Patriots started off the scoring just 45 seconds into the match, when Jill Toomey scored her first of a team-high four goals, off a pass from Kristy Manus. Drexel's Chrissy Sheehan evened up the score with an unassisted goal at 21:27. GMU went up 3-1 off of two straight goals from freshman Kate Scott just minutes later. Rand would score the final tally of the half for Drexel after scooping up a rebound from a missed shot and firing it into the goal with 11:35 remaining. George Mason's Tracy Waterson made the score 4-2 in favor of Mason at 3:06 after being awarded a free position shot. Toomey threw one more past DU goalie Shirley Sarker before the half was through, to make the score 5-2 going into the intermission.

The Patriots scored their sixth goal of the game off a free position by Manus just four seconds into the second half. Drexel refused to give up and fought back with two straight goals. Rand collected the draw control and sprinted down the field to score at 28:34, while Sheehan made good on a free position shot at 27:16 to make the score 6-4. The Patriots took back the game with goals by Toomey and Kristen Olson, but Rand stopped the run with an unassisted goal at 21:43. Patriot Jeannine Ohler interjected with a goal at 21:11, but Drexel came alive to score the next three and bring them within two goals. Jaime Connahan scored her 11th goal of the season at 20:33 to make the score 10-6. Jen Bonini and Laurie Bean teamed to find the net again at 17:30. Stephanie Hanshaw notched the eighth and final Dragon goal off a free position at 13:19. Mason would go on to score four more goals, including three in the final two minutes to make the final score 14-8.
