FAIRFAX, VA... George Mason softball player Stacy James has earned her second straight Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week honor.
The sophomore shortstop hit a team-high .538 this past week as the Patriots went 3-1 to improve to 14-10 overall on the season. Mason swept a double-header from UMBC Thursday and defeated UMES Saturday before losing to Princeton in the following game.
James went 7-for-13 at the plate with one double and four runs scored. She struck out just once, posted a .692 slugging percentage and was successful in four out of five stolen bases attempts.
During Mason's sweep of UMBC, James went 4-for-7, and she went 3-for-6 Saturday during the Patriots split.
James and the Patriots travel to Maryland on Wednesday for an evening double-header that starts at 5 p.m. before opening up CAA competition by hosting Drexel this Saturday and Sunday. This weekend's games start at noon, with a double-header Saturday and a single game Sunday.
