Norfolk, VA...The Patriots played a double-header at Norfolk State Tuesday, earning a split with a 5-0 win in the opener and a 6-2 loss in the second game.

Kim Braxton went 5 for 8 with three doubles and two RBI during the series.

In the first game, Braxton was 2 for 4, including a double, with an RBI and a run scored, while Missy Hartman had three hits in four trips to the plate, scored twice and drove in one run. Jen Schultz also had a pair of hits for Mason, as the Patriots pounded out a combined 11 hits and stole six bases. Braxton had two of those steals, as did Jen Clawson.

Stacy James added a double, while Tasha Galecki and Amanda Ayers each had an RBI.

Miranda Fox pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts en route to the win inside the circle.

In the second game, Braxton had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and had the Patriots lone RBI. Kathy Hrycyna had two hits, while Hartman scored twice and stole two bases.

Rene Leveque took the loss for Mason, scattering six hits and issuing seven walks.
