FAIRFAX, VA ... The new GMUsports.com, George Mason University's revamped Athletic Department web site, has generated nearly 500,000 "hits" in its first seven weeks.
The web site, which replaced a different version of the same web address and is now administrated by the Official College Sports Network (OCSN), was launched on Jan. 9 and received 165,336 hits in the month of January. That number nearly doubled in February as the web site was visited 314,266 times for a total of 479,602 hits in the first seven weeks of the launch. In addition, 20,840 unique visitors reached GMUsports.com in January, and the number rose to 38,016 in February.
"We're very excited that GMUsports.com has generated so much interest in such a short time," said Lory Stimson, Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs and Executive Director of the Patriot Club at George Mason. "We have received very favorable comments in terms of the clean look and ease in navigation compared to the old site. And it appears more and more new people are visiting the site each month."
GMUsports.com is the official web site of the George Mason University Athletic Department. Information, including rosters, schedules, statistics, player bios and history, on each of Mason's 22 varsity sports can be found on the site, along with links to facilities and the university's intramural and recreation club sports.
