FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason junior Craig Mason (Lorton, VA/Hayfield) is tied for second in the individual standings following the first day of competition at the William & Mary Invitational held at the 6,781-yard, par 71 Kingsmill Resort River Course in Williamsburg, VA.

Due to darkness on Monday evening, the second round was not completed. The second round will continue Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m., with the third round following completion of the second round. The George Mason men's team is 12th overall in the first round of the tournament, which features 18 teams from the Mid-Atlantic District. The Patriots fired a team score of 310. They sit ahead of W&M's "B" team by one stroke and trail Towson by two strokes. James Madison holds the lead at 298, followed by Liberty (299) and Richmond (302).

Patriot sophomore Ryan Jeun (Laurel, MD/DeMatha) is tied for 35th out of 96 individuals after carding a 77. Junior Ben Hogan (Centreville, VA/Centreville) is tied for 54th (79), while seniors Chris Barr (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) and Carl Jacobson (Moline, IL/Moline) are tied for 75th, shooting 82 in the first round.

The individual standings have Navy's Billy Hurley leading with a three under-par 68. Mason is tied with three other players for second in St. John's Andrew Svoboda, Maryland's Tim Kane, and Towson's Billy Wingerd. Each of them fired a one-over 72 in the first round.

Action at the William & Mary Invitational concludes Tuesday with the second and third rounds.
