FAIRFAX, VA ... The George Mason University men's and women's track & field teams will host the six-team Patriot Games on Saturday, February 1, at the George Mason Fieldhouse. Field events begin at 11 a.m. with the running events starting at noon. The final event of the day will be the men's 4x400-meter relay, scheduled to begin at 3:05 p.m.

George Mason will face competition from East Carolina, Norfolk State (women), North Carolina State, St. Augustine and William & Mary.

Last week the men's team competed at the New York Elite Track & Field Meet, with athletes placing in the top five in six events, including sophomore Jonathan Martin (Fairfax, VA/Bishop O'Connell/Cal State Fullerton) finishing runner-up in the high jump with a personal-best 6-foot, 9-inch performance.

The women's team sent their 4x400-meter relay of freshmen twins Alyce Williams and Alycia Williams (Palm Coast, FL/Flagler Palm Coast), junior Sheena Goss (Elk Grove, CA/Laguna Creek) and sophomore Sheena Davidson (Rochester, NY/Edison Tech) to the New York meet where they won in 3:48.29. The relay and the rest of the team also competed at the Maryland Invitational, posting six top-five finishes.

In the latest USTCA Team Power Rankings, the Patriot women are ranked 26th and the men are 34th. After the Patriot Games both teams will have the following weekend off and return to action on Saturday, February 15, as hosts of the GMU Collegiate Open at the George Mason Fieldhouse.
