FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason's Katie Sloper (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton) of the Patriots' women's tennis team defeated Caitlin Larocco of Loyola, 6-2, 6-4 to win the flight "B" consolation draw of last week's DC Metro Championships.

The Championships had several matches suspended due to time limitations with the hope that they could be made up later. Sloper's final match of the draw, which was one of those suspended, was made up Thursday. After opening the year 0-4, the sophomore has now won four straight contests to improve to 4-4 overall.

The Patriots' men's and women's teams converge on Norfolk, VA, Oct. 18-20, to participate in the East Coast Collegiate Championships.
